Exactly why mine aren't allowed on the furniture. As it is, the dogs follow me everywhere and even cry at the door if I go to the bathroom. Keeping them off the furniture provides some level of control for the dog hair.

I’m mostly lucky that Sophie is very stand-offish and not affectionate (she fell asleep on my leg exactly once in her seven years), and one of the cats is highly antisocial. The other cat, though... “Oh, it’s 95 degrees in the house? Time to lay in your lap and activate blast furnace mode!”
